The St. Vincent de Paul Society is an international Christian organisation. Catholic in origin and character, it is dedicated to helping anyone in need. Membership is open to men and woman, young and old, of any denomination. The SVP asks only that members accept fully the Christian ethos of the Society, and are committed to express their love of God through personal service to their neighbour. The SVP respects religious liberty and values of all people. Our 5-member local group, called a Conference, meets on most weeks on a Wednesday at 8pm, alternating monthly between St. Peters and St. Thomas More. Our members visit people in their homes and engage in other works through other organisations, with an emphasis on personal contact. The conference is twinned with two SVP Conferences in India giving financial support and exchanging letters. Funds are raised by collection from members and from contributions made at church.
